NORTH CAROLINA INSURANCE LICENSING INFORMATION

  1. North Carolina law dictates a minimum of 20 hours of education from an approved prelicensing educational provider prior to an agent candidate being permitted to sit for the life insurance, accident and health insurance, property insurance, casualty insurance, and personal lines insurance licenses. A minimum of 10 hours of education is required prior to sitting for the Medicare Supplement / LTC licensing examination.

  2. To comply with this regulation, attendance of all class sessions is mandatory. Late arrival to class or early departure from class will prevent Insurance Educational Systems from certifying completion of the educational requirement. In addition, agent candidates must pass a mandated course final exam.

  3. The licensing examination is administered by Pearson Vue. The Certificate of Course Completion/Examination Admission Ticket is contained in the State of North Carolina Licensing Examination Candidate Guide.

  4. Pearson Vue's computerized examinations are offered throughout the week at various statewide locations. Appointments for the state examination must be made in advance. For site locations, examination schedules and reservations, call the reservation number at 1-800-274-0668. Our school code for registration is 4061.

  5. To be admitted to the state examination, the candidate must bring the Certificate of Course Completion/Examination Admission Ticket and 2 forms of I.D. (one must be photo bearing).

FORMAT

The format of our classroom (seminar) based program will alter only slightly to accommodate changes in licensing law effective January 1st, 2008. Full day sessions will begin at 8am and end at 5:30 pm. The half-day sessions found in the Medicare Supplement / Long-Term care program will begin at 8am and end at noon (except Sunday sessions where the beginning time will be 1pm ending at 5pm). The changes to our classroom format will be as follows:

  1. We will teach the Property and Casualty classes in a one week, five (5) consecutive day format. The Personal Lines class will be incorporated into this format much like we had offered prior to these changes. We believe there will be little demand for Property only or Casualty only certification. Please inform us if that assumption is incorrect. We will be teaching the 5 day program in the following order.

    1. Day 1 through day 3 (Monday - Wednesday) will cover information pertinent to both Property and Casualty dealing with Personal Lines coverages.

    2. The morning session of day 4 (Thursday) will include a review of all material covered in class to that point. Mid-day of day 4 (Thursday will be the administration of the Personal Lines course final examination and certification of Personal Lines candidates that pass.

    3. When the class reconvenes in the afternoon of day 4, the commercial section of the course covering both Property and Casualty will be conducted.

    4. Day 5 (Friday) will have the presentation of commercial contracts completed in the morning session. The afternoon session will include a general review followed by administration of both the Property and Casualty final examinations. Separate certification will be provided to those who successfully complete each line’s requirement for attendance and final examination.

  2. * Life course will be conducted in a 2 1/2 - day class (Monday through midday Wednesday). Class hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday; 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Registration for students who have not prepaid will be from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on Monday.

  3. ** The Accident and Health course will be conducted in a 2 1/2 - day class (Wednesday afternoon through Friday). Class hours are from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. Registration for students who have not prepaid will be from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

  4. On occasion, Property and Casualty courses will be offered on a 5 day format that incorporates two (2) weekends. The days of the week for this format will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the 1st weekend session and then Saturday and Sunday of the 2nd weekend session. In this format, Day 1 would equate to the opening Friday class, day 3 to the first Sunday class and day 5 to the last Sunday class.

  5. The Medicare Supplement / Long Term Care class format requires attendance all day of the first day of class and ½ day the second day of class.
